Magpie 35 Negative Affirmative

Behind the cracked leaves
blue sky fights for my attention
creating Polonious like images
demanding affirmation -
a dog's snout sniffing
a catfish snuffling
dad's big nose snorting.

Between the crumpling leaves
other shapes shoulder consciousness aside
negatives outmuscling positives
truths outshouting truth
silences screaming stories unsaid
untold.
the in-between lives exposing
the superficial lies.

I love writing that makes me think. I did need to look up Polonius though. I love the interpretation of the leaf shapes.

I like this poem about truth and lies, the way you interpreted individual leaves in the pic, Poloniuses demanding attention. And negatives do rather outmuscle positives a lot, don't they? Well done!

sometimes we need to sout down the negatives as they some how are more pushy than the positives.

Steve, that was excellent. I loved the line "dad's big nose snorting"....my dad had a cracker of a nose. Could lose a finger up it!

As for me, my favorite line is, "the in-between lives exposing the superficial lies." I know all about that. Wonderful writing so well put.

Love the last line...'the in-between lives exposing
the superficial lies.'

Left with the haunting of the negatives, powerful..
